Greetings from the front lines of the Gift Show! If we look a little shiny and pooped… Well, that’s just about right. But thanks to the folks at NotNeutral for perking us up with delicious cappuccinos! (-Moe & Laur)

We all have one: a bedroom. But what does yours say about you? I recently designed/wrote a quiz for ShelterPop to help you decipher just that. Take it and let me know your style! (-Allie)
One reason why I love living in Manhattan is that I’m surrounded by super talented, creative people. This morning I met with one such person: Julie Hoylen, a fashion stylist, lover of color and writer of the blog Live in Full Color. We met at Europa Cafe near Grand Central for a cup of coffee and to chat about our love for the world of design. Her site focuses on all-things color — fashion, home, life — and is a great read, so I wanted to share. Check it out when you have time. Thanks for a lovely coffee date Julie! (-Allie)
Last week Moe and I spent two arduous, jam-packed days in the studio producing five room scenes for the winter issue of Ty Pennington at Home (more on that later). After two 10-hour days full of lifting heavy boxes and arranging furniture, what are two stylists to do? Attend the photo studio’s big art reception bash, obviously. Jack Studios (where we held our shoot for Ty) hosts countless of uber-talented photographers and some of the top magazines in the country (Glamour was shooting a few doors down) and so they held a big open-bar party highlighting the work of a handful of them. Awesome photography, fellow artsy folk and free Champagne? Yes please. To top it off, our super-awesome photographer, Lucas Allen, runs a modernized version of the photobooth called Boothomatic and had it there to play with. After being behind the lens for two days, it was fun to let loose in front of it. Good thing we had our party outfits packed in our purses… (-Allie)
Here’s a snap of Allie checking out some cute washing machines at Amana (which is pronounced not ah-mah-nah, like I thought, but more like “What a-man-a!”). If only we had washer dryers in our apartments! They would certainly have to be color-coordinated like these ones.
We also got to chat with Thom Filicia, who is quite cute in person and super-nice. Sadly, despite the fact that he touched my arm – twice! – we inexplicably did not take a photo with him. Don’t worry, he said he’d invite us to an event soon. We’ll just have to wait and see if his manager really kept that coaster I wrote my number on… (-Moe)
Okay, we’re going to try to be better about posting pictures when we’re out and about on the job. We worked our tooshes off over the summer, but I’m just now getting around to posting for you. See, it’s vacation time for everyone else, but we’re gearing up for the holidays in the magazine world, running around looking at all the new stuff everyone will be bringing out come fall and winter. (-Moe)
So: Here we are at the Ikea 2010 Catalogue preview!
They had a ton of cute – and always affordable – new products that are in stores now, like these new stripey chair covers that we both loved.
And these great, bold fabric patterns:
Cool, huh? A lot of black & white, a lot of grey, and a lot of green. You can see all of the new stuff on their website – have fun browsing!
