Stick to It

We inherit a lot of traits from our parents — one of mine? A reliance on sticky notes to run my schedule and keep my To Do list conquerable (thanks Dad). These leafy babies are my style saving grace. Instead of random bright yellow stickies covering my apartment, I can now have a more decorative look to my frantic system. (-Allie)

Cut a Rug

Isn’t this beautiful? Amy Helfand designs each of her rugs custom and then has them made in Nepal under conditions that are certified to be free of child labor. No wonder the process can take up to six months!  (-Moe)

Warm Modernism

I despise the notion that a contemporary interior need be cold and minimal. That misconception fueled the Swatchbook of the Week–as did another misconception, that high style comes at a high price. This living room option proves that it’s possible to achieve a cozy, modern interior — even on a tight budget. Opt for a terracotta or rusty red to establish a cozy vibe. Wood elements add further warmth, especially when paired with a sleek modern sofa. When on a tight budget, turn to stores like CB2, Ikea and West Elm for large pieces, then hunt for affordable accessories through Overstock, Amazon or the sale section of your favorite sites. Stepping Out In Style

Today’s post celebrates the opening of Sex and the City 2.  Yayyy!  I’m not one of the lucky ones going to see the movie on opening day, but you can bet I’ll be celebrating at home with a fruity beverage.  Can anything be better to cool said drink than these stiletto shaped ice cubes?  Fabulous!  (-Laur)

Stripe Shape

Those of you who have been with us since the beginning know that I’m just a leettle Type A. So how could I not love these babies? What a cool way to get organized! If there is a cool way to get organized, I mean. (-Moe)

Well Done

I love when super-basic items are given just a hint of pizazz.  Case in point, this charcoal grill from Weber.  The sleek, deep-blue color turns an ordinary object into something that will really stand out on the patio. (-Laur)

Color blocking

After seeing these mugs showcased and stacked together at at event last week, a great wave of nostalgia swept over me, and brought me back to childhood playtime.  Aren’t they like blocks for adults? (-Laur)

Pink Pearl

I just visited a girlfriend’s apartment who had the color just the way I would want it—if I didn’t have a husband to contend with. Warm grey, soft pink; totally girly and still grown-up. Hence, this week’s palette. (-Moe)

Sitting Pretty

Now, I love going to the ICFF for inspiration, but never really expect to find items that I could actually afford.  This amazing (and amazingly comfortable!) chair was an exception.  Made from durable vinyl cord in a range of fun colors, and crafted using a traditional Mayan hammock weaving technique, the Acapulco chair is a perfect example of how mixing old and new cooks up fantastic, interesting results.  Wouldn’t this look fantastic out on the patio?  And in the living room? And maybe in the bedroom too?  (-Laur)

Wall Candy

Amy Butler has been known for her sweet fabrics and area rugs — but now she’s branched out into a world I love most: wallpaper. And, luckily, she did so with Graham and Brown, one of my favorite go-to sources for affordable and chic wall coverings. Her designs may fall on the feminine side, but they’d be quite lovely balanced with more neutral, and even masculine, furnishings. (-Allie)

Temple Tulips, Momento, Field Poppies; Lacework; all $80/double roll at Graham and Brown.
